Quilted Texture
The difficult part of this texture is laying it out.
The actual carving is simply following your layout lines with the gouge.
Note: The stitching was done with a pounce wheel

Fur
This fur texture is explained by the "Ornament" article on the homepage
Hair or Beards
This is probably not the best example of a gouged beard.
Use a gouge whenever you don't want fine or sharp hair.
The gouge leaves a much smoother hair that has a nice feel.
The fur was accomplished with the same gouge.
Gouged Eyebrows
Creating eyebrows with a gouge is quick and easy.
Try to overlap the gouge path slightly to prevent leaving flat areas.
Round Holes
There are times when small round holes are needed.
Cutting a round hole for the walking stick is quick work for a micro gouge.
